Bitter+Sweet is the modern-chic-delicious brainchild of ex-banker turned pro-barista/awesome proprietor Janice Chua.
The sophisticated space features elegant wood floors, high ceilings, and an impressive dessert bar; the shelves are adorned with Sightglass whole bean coffee bags and brightly colored teapots (both available for purchase). Large glass windows usher in plenty of natural light, making it the perfect place to get some work done.
Even the baristas look trendy, which makes every inch of Bitter+Sweet resonate with an undeniably hip attitude.
But that’s enough of me fawning over the gorgeous décor. The real reason to run-not-walk to Bitter+Sweet is to have whatever Janice & company are serving up. The café clearly prides itself on serving only the best to its patrons so prepare for some serious name dropping: Sightglass Coffee, Humphry Slocombe ice cream, and Satura pastries in addition to their own distinguished menu items.
If you don’t know what any of those are, the very kind and knowledgeable staff will be glad to enlighten you.
My recommendation? Don’t miss the red velvet latte. Indescribably rich and ever so luscious, the red velvet latte is meticulously made with hand pulled espresso. Have it with a scoop (or three…) of Secret Breakfast, an organic vanilla bourbon ice cream with cornflakes and you’ll be in a decadent heaven.
